I began 1999 my breed with show budgerigars. The first successes were limited to the gathering of experience in keeping and breeding.
In the beginnig of 2000 I acquired some very good budgerigars from the then quite well known breeders Manfred Kanzler and Hugo Bohn. With Hugo Bohn, just living a couple of kilometers away in Seligenstadt am Main, I got tight a bond of a deep breeding friendship.
Since 2001 I have mainly taken animals from the swiss champion breeder Daniel Lütolf into my breed, leading to a contingent of almost 90% of the animals in my breed of this outstanding breeding from Switzerland.
I breed the following colors:
Normals, Cinnamons, Opalines, Spangles, Australian pieds, Albinos and Lutinos.
After giving up the recessive pieds in 2007 I increasingly breed Lutinos and Albinos since 2009. For this I acquired some very good birds from the swiss champion breeder Kurt Vogt.
In mid September I begin the breeding and let it run out in Mai/June. Principally I always have a couple of pairs planted afterwards. Normally these are hens that reach breeding condition after the breeding period. In the summertime I also like to do some experimental breeding.
Since 2006, I am listed in the AZ championship class.
I regularly visit the following events:
- AZ-Bundesschau
- Europachampionat
- DSV-Bundesschau
- AZ-Landesschau Hessen
- Vereins- und Kreismeisterschaft of my home club
- possibly some open shows (Mainfrankenschau in Würzburg)
